Re: [openss7] SS7 stack
Rafi,
Excellent!
The alpha release runs on LiS (Linux STREAMS) package. You can
get a jump-start by downloading the LiS-2.9beta9 release from
ftp://ftp.gcom.com/pub/linux/src/LiS/LiS-2.9beta9.tgz
Loading it up on a Linux box and familiarizing yourself with the
package. Take a look at some the of the SS7 STREAMS design stuff
at
http://www.openss7.org/streams.html
I know there isn't much there, we haven't had the time to update
the site in the last several weeks. Expect more soon.
The alpha release of OpenSS7 for STREAMS is due by the end of
November, so it won't be long now. We will announce the alpha
when it is available for download.
The only hardware card supported by the alpha release will be the
SeaLevel ACB56 card. See
http://www.openss7.org/links.html
for a line on where you can get ahold of one (or more) of these.
They only run at 56kbps V.35 but don't cost very much.
If you have an interest in a specific card, let us know and we'll
see about adding a driver to the alpha if we can get hardware.
PTI has graciously offered some of their cPCI cards for development,
but that won't be until December. Check the links page above if
your interested in these cards.
The alpha release will also do SS7 over IP (link emulation using
UDP). I have been using this for development and testing. You
might want to give that a whirl instead of worrying about hardware
for now.
Let us know if you have any other questions while awaiting the
alpha release.
