STREAMS Code Snapshot

All,

There have been quite a few questions regarding when there will be
a STREAMS version available, so I have placed my current development
snapshot on the website on the downloads page at

    http://www.openss7.org/download.html

The tarred and gzipped file is

    http://www.openss7.org/strss7-0.7.2.tgz

This file contains a working version of the SDL UDP link emulation
(which does not require any hardware to emulate an SS7 link, just
UDP network connection) and STREAMS modules for

    SDL - Signalling Data Link
    SDT - Signalling Data Terminal
    SL - Siganlling Link

These implement a fully operational Level 2 driver for the UDP
emulation and provide a framework for hardware drivers. There is
an ACB56 example, but I haven't made it work yet. There are also
files (which don't work yet) for the SLS (Signalling Link Set) and
MTP (Message Transfer Part).

To run the software you need the LiS STREAMS package. I suggest
version 2.10 (but I suppose 2.11 might work: I haven't tried it).
You can get the LiS-2.10 at:

    ftp://ftp.gcom.com/pub/linux/src/LiS/LiS-2.10.tgz

if you don't have it already. It installs rather nicely.

Meager installation instructions for the new strss7 prerelease
are contained in the package.

Let me know if you have any problems or difficulties.

Enjoy!
