Is a gcc-2.96 thing.  I normally set flags in Makefiles to generate an
error for all warnings.  This is an error that gcc-2.96 always generates
(even when compiling modules in the kernel).  Remove the -Werror line from the
top level makefile and all will work fine... You will still see theses bogus
warnings but compiling will continue.

Sorry about that.
