Patrick,

On my main machine where I still run RH6.2 I'm using
egcs-2.91.66.  On the notebook, I'm running a modified RH7.0 I
use gcc-2.96.  I think you have to back up farther than 2.95 to
see the problem go away.  If you use kgcc on a RH7.0 system
instead of gcc, you will find that kgcc --version yields
egcs-2.91.66.  There is a good chance that replacing gcc with
kgcc in the toplevel Makefile would do the job as well...
Chances are I should write the Makefile to check for kgcc and
use it if it exists.

Did you manage to get the test programs and conformance tests to
run?
