Linux Fast-STREAMS

Description: OpenSS7 Product Status Operating Systems.

Note that it is now possible to select from most of these categories off of the "Related" sidebar menu.

Overview:-

The STREAMS component is an implementation of SVR 4.2 MP STREAMS for Linux.

STREAMS is a fundamental underpinning for all STREAMS-based components under OpenSS7.

History:-

Work on Linux Fast-STREAMS started in 2003 and completed in 2006.

Status:-

Linux Fast-STREAMS is in the Maintenance stage. Only minor modifications to the build process to build for newer kernels are performed as necessary. No bugs have been found since mid-2006.

Work on the project has been funded primarily by:

For additional sponsors of OpenSS7, please see the Sponsors page.

Dependencies:-

Linux Fast-STREAMS is a set of Linux 2.4.x, 2.6.x or 3.x loadable kernel modules. It depends upon no other OpenSS7 packages. To use the package does not require patching of the kernel. The package is autoconf tarball and is suitable to configure, build and install against production kernels in popular distributions.

For additional information about general system dependencies, see System Requirements.

Design:-

Designs for Linux Fast-STREAMS can be viewed on the Linux Fast-STREAMS Design page.

Documentation:-

Documentation for Linux Fast-STREAMS is available on the Linux Fast-STREAMS Documentation page. The Linux Fast-STREAMS manual pages are available starting on the Linux Fast-STREAMS Manual Pages page.

Test Results:-

Test programs for POSIX testing for Linux Fast-STREAMS are available in the src/test sub-directory of the streams release package. Autotest test suites are available in the tests sub-directory of the streams release package.

Performance test results using these programs and tests suites are available on the Linux Fast-STREAMS Performance page.

Conformance test results using these programs and tests suites are available on the Linux Fast-STREAMS Conformance page.

References:-

References for Linux Fast-STREAMS are available on the Linux Fast-STREAMS Reference page. The Linux Fast-STREAMS Inttallation and Reference Manual is also available.

Code:-

Code is has been publicly released, and can be viewed starting with the streams package release directory.

Release Package:-

Several packages have been publicly released:

streams-0.7a.4.tar.bz2
This is a fully functional alpha release. This package has been rigorously tested with a fair test coverage and passes conformance and performance tests. The other STREAMS packages have been tested with this package.
streams-0.7a.3.tar.bz2
This was the initial public release and was largely released to provide information to the industry and allow code inspection of the code base. This release has been deprecated by the one above.

Please see the Linux Fast-STREAMS Package pages or the Downloads page for more information.
