OverviewLinux Fast-STREAMS is conformance tested in accordance with the IEEE POSIX Standard and OpenGroup Single UNIX® Specification. It is also protocol tested for conformance the System V Release 4 descriptions in the "UNIX® System V Release 4 Programmer's Guide -- STREAMS" documentation. Conformance test suites are included in the recent Linux Fast-STREAMS release packages. Linux STREAMS is conformance tested to the same standards. Again, conformance test suites are included in recent LiS release packages. However, LiS does not pass much more than 60% of the conformance test cases and is known to lock up on SMP kernels for as much as 20% of the test cases. Conditions for ConformanceA STREAMS implementation can be judged for conformance at two levels:
At the User Level, a STREAMS implementation can be judged by how well it conforms to the POSIX/SUSv3 specifications, as well as how well it implements traditional SVR 4.2 MP features. At the Kernel Level, a STREAMS implementation can be judged by how well it conforms to the descriptions contained in the "UNIX® System V Release 4 Programmer's Guide -- STREAMS" description of the internal SVR 4.2 MP workings and available utility functions.
